While running an errand in the department store, I noticed a rather interesting navy suit with a texture fabric. Curious, I examined the label and notice that it was a seersucker suit. I was surprised. I do own a seersucker suit, but it's the traditional blue and white. This was totally dark navy with a crinkly texture.

I rather like the texture, but how and where would you wear it. It's probably not the suit for a job interview, so may be wedding and may be dinner events?

Is this a recent development? I did a search and notice it was mentioned in the trad forum, which seems to imply that it's been around?

While the striped variation is probably the best known and most often seen, seersucker can come in a variety of colors and patterns.

I'm not sure it's business appropriate unless one is in the south, where in the Summer my understanding is that it's quite common. Otherwise, I think you're fine wearing it during any other occasion where you would wear seersucker.

Can I ask where you saw it, I've been in the market?

IT was a JCPenney, don't recall which brand or what it was made of. IT was on clearance so it probably won't be at your location, but other places should carry something similar.

I own a navy seersucker suit and wear it during the summer months, same as my gray/white and blue/white seersucker suits. Appropriateness for seersucker is a function of weather and forum. In today's much more casual business world there would be very few business forums where it would be insufficiently formal.

I had to run another errand and took a look again. The suite is made by J Ferrar and is mostly polyester, so I would not recommend it since it sort of defeats the purpose of the searsucker.
