No worries mate. Happiness is an overfilled closet! Prior to our Southern migration I laid all my sweaters out on the bed and counted them...the total came to 54. Realizing the more limited opportunities I would have for wearing such in the deep south and in preparation for the move I culled the heard to 28. Lately I've found myself rebuilding the hoard! LOL. :(

Big mistake, if you don't count, you don't know the number - not knowing the number removes one obstacle from additional purchases, as, then, all you need is a "qualitative" justification, i.e., "I don't have a mid-weight, grey, cotton, crewneck sweater" which sounds quite reasonable versus, "I have 54 sweaters, but 'need' a mid-weight, grey, cotton, crewneck sweater," which sounds crazy to non-AAAC humans.

Not a sweater problem but a developing closet problem. Now is the time for expansion. Maybe your kids have already left the best and their rooms can be turned into walk in closets. In your case I imagine you need one each for your clothes and your shoes

I'm a sucker for symmetry.

Please buy more cashmere and merino v-necks and more crew necks and cardigans to even out the stacks. Then post again.
I'm already on it.

I went to BB to return 3 sweaters and 4 ties I bought the day before Christmas at their sale. On Christmas Day I went online and found I could purchase the same merchandise for $170 less online. So I did just that and they arrived yesterday.

At the store I found the below sweater at 40% off. Upon ringing it up the salesman informed me I had earned $110 BB credit as points. The sweater was therefore only $68.

Discounting the 32 stored cotton sweaters, I followed FF's advice and thought, "I don't have a light blue Donegal, cableknit, double breasted, shawl collar, horn button cardigan, with pockets." Plus with the exchange savings, discount, and points, it was free and I walked out of the store 1 sweater and $102 richer.

When it, and the Spier and Mackay turtlenecks arrive the only asymmetrical slot will be the cashmere's.

Woofa: I'm already using the computer room closet, guest room closet and one son"s closet. My wife has another son's closet and all the master bedroom closets. We split another closet in a guest suite. That;s upstairs. The two downstairs coat closets are bursting at the seams. We're equally at fault there, though the dog's sweaters, jackets, and raincoats do take up quite a bit of room themselves. I suspect she owns more sweaters and coats then most non-AAAC persons.

As Chief Brody would say, "I'm gonna need a bigger closet."

Well, I only own 5, so I feel underprivilged! Regarding my shirts, however....

After losing weight, I didn't realize knitwear was so involved. V-neck and crew-neck Merino and cashmere now. Pop-over vests, Cardigan vests, wool & cashmere cardigans. Not much in bulky stuff yet. Maybe a shawl cardigan next. shaggy dog, fisherman's knit?????

I'm with you on this. Just like everything on this forum, once you start the rabbit hole is endless.
