The undercoat fine fiber of a goat is classified into three categories: cashmere, cashgora and angora. The indigenous Mongolian goat yields cashmere fiber with an average diameter of 14-16 microns which is considered to be the finest in the world. The length of these cashmere fibers reaches 38-43 mm on the average, which along with its diameter places the Mongolian cashmere at the top place in the world in terms of quality. Some of the reason for its high-quality is the fact that Mongolian goats are adapted to the severe climate of our highlands where they have been living for thousands of years. The abundant variety of plants growing in the wild nature of the homeland has also contributed towards the softness, warmness and fineness of our cashmere.
