Have you ever noticed how JBierly, of Chattanooga, is so consistently patient whenever he is asked to critique clothes? There's never any drama in his responses; just astute, straightforward observations. Each time.
Thank goodness for JBierly: he's calm and collected so I don't have to be.
The man deserves to have a good song written in his honor. Somebody might compose one someday. Until then, I offer this:
THE MAN FROM CHATTANOOGA
Dedicated to JBierly
(Sung to the tune of "The Girl From Ipanema"--the Nat King Cole version, whose lyrics are all in English. There are other versions of "The Girl From Ipanema" that alternate lyrics in English and Portugese. And even though this isn't the Trad Forum, I'll say that you're not really tradly if you're not familiar with this early-1960s bossa nova classic.)
THE MAN FROM CHATTANOOGA
Sharp and smart and kind and clever
The man from Chattanooga writes wisely
And when he's writing then all we readers go "Yeahhh"
When he writes he's criticizing
Guys' custom suits, sport coats and trousers
Yet he's constructive and we all simply say "Yeahhh"
Yes, he speaks highly precisely
And, he might tell you "Return it"
Still, he conveys the news nicely
You can bet every time that he writes
He tries to avoid making slights
Sharp and smart and kind and clever
The man from Chattanooga writes wisely
And what he's writing is helping all young fellows see
Yes, though your jacket fits poorly
And, your pants fit you like Spandex
Still, he'll avoid speaking sorely
And instead you'll get gentle advice
On how you can truly look nice
Sharp and smart and kind and clever
The man from Chattanooga writes wisely
And when he's posting I'm hoping the newbies will learn
And when he's posting I'm hoping the newbies will learn
I hope they learn
