Metropolitan, the movie, 30 year anniversary!

One of my favorite films.

Interesting how enough time has passed that it's almost because a period drama, like a film version (fittingly, I would add) of a Jane Austen novel.

Suzanne Pucci described it as a "post-heritage" film, really a kind of Regency (or perhaps Victorian) comedy of manners, only set in contemporary Manhattan.

To this day I think about detachable collars, just because of Nick's endorsement of them.

I saw this thread after posting another on Metropolitan...I went to Millbrook (Stillman graduated 12 years before I) and have watched Metropolitan on Christmas Day for at least the 20 past years (and was at the preview in 1990!).

BTW, for a while I would get my shirts made at The Custom Shop (don't ask) and had, yes, detachable collars a la Nick!
