Matt Lauer's fashion sense

I know that Matt Lauer on NBC's Today is supposed to be one of the best dressed men in America, and he does always look well put together....but I wonder about his choices sometimes...Brown shoes seem to be a staple with him even with Navy and Gray. I for one wear Black or Burgundy with Navy and Gray, never brown...these seem to look ok for him but I can never feel comfortable with that combination.

My real peeve with is dressing is his way of buttoning his 3 button suits. These are not the old style 3 button suites, but the new style with the top button very high up and to me these do not look good with just the middle button buttoned as I would wear one of my Southwicks with 3 buttons, where the 3 buttons are closer to what is done with two buttons as far as spacing.. It just did not do anything for the way his jacket looked on when just that middle button was done.

Maybe I am showing my ignorance regarding modern dress and style, but these things really bother me.
