I have always been a fan of those shoes ever since I can remember. Not only are the super preppy and dope but I think they are super comfy....Any other dudes agree?

Quiet, he's a premium member, we're making money here.

Probably shouldn't reply to our newest member since I don't think I belong in the dude category to which he addresses, but since yesterday on my way back from Portland I drove through Freeport and passed the LL Bean mothership and since I've been given some sort of LL bean product for birthdays and Christmas since the time I was five, I will answer by saying, yes they are very versatile, the bean rubber mocs, but comfy, nah no way, as far as preppy, well when I was younger and a prep here in Maine and most of the rest of the world had never heard of LL Bean, nobody wore those damn things except loggers and trappers, the homliest footwear ever made.

Welcome to the forum. You just joined an hour ago and you're already a premium member? Good for you.

Are you a fan of preppy style?
I have a hunch I may be talking to a younger person here. Fine. I'm 77 years old though and was a kid at the same time that prep was invented, and so being here in the heart of it all in New England I knew no different, so yes I was a prep, but certain things took me away from that lifestyle, it was called the Vietnam War. Wasn't called up,, but protesting and holding signs and yelling and chanting didn't necessarily fit with wearing shorts, madras and a sweater tied around the neck so at about that time I became something a little bit different than a prep, but I admire the style, have elements of it to this day and I think it's great that younger folks are bringing it back.

It's an infallible sign of fall and impending winter when I switch from boat shoes to Bean mocs for knocking around purposes.

I have the standard moc and the insulated three-eyelet version.

I would not wear them in any situation that calls for a tie. I might wear them with a tweed jacket if ground conditions are really muddy or snowy, but I have other, better options.

Welcome to Ask Andy Trad Forum. I suspect that most of us on this forum do not understand the "dope" comment and many, if not most, of us predate the Preppy Handbook by Lisa Burnbaugh so are arguably not really "preppy" but do lean towards Traditional dress and manner. Hope you find some good information on this site as there are quite a number of well informed folks who have been wearing these types of things for 60 + years. No disrespect intended.

I am a fan of the style I have worn since prep school (after getting out of short pants), but it is a style that does not align with current and recent perceptions of preppy. A few examples may illustrate. I do not wear any of the popular modern brands that younger generations like such as Vineyard Vines, Southern Tide, etc. I like very traditional ties like those from Atkinson, traditional OCBDs, khakis rather than critter pants, and penny style or tasseled loafers rather than boat shoes, driving mocs, and Bean shoes and mocs. I understand that somehow Bean mocs have become iconic, but I have never found them very comfortable or particularly sure footed on mud or ice.

you don't have to be so rude
Wasn't trying to be rude; I merely pointed out how silly your message was. Your first post, and you refer to all AAAC members (of varying ages) as "dudes" even though women post here as well. In addition, you referred to a pair of shoes as "dope" and "super preppy" and "super comfy." You somehow managed to accomplish this in one sentence. I thought you presented yourself as an immature teenager, something right out of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Others may disagree...

...like me. Sorry, Tiger, I'm teaching myself Teenage and this thread helps.

So Prepdude83, feel free to play around here with us. Questions, comments, or whatever. Pictures would help. That would be sick.
Dude! No worries, bro. Prepdude83 gonna be a dope teacher, dude. He be like, "I got my super preppy, comfy, and dope Bean mocs, and I'm a gonna teach that bitchin' dude up in Maine what it be! It's gonna be awesome, dope bro dude!"

Wait until you find out that he's not a teenager, Peak. Might hinder the self-taught lessons!;)

What is your favorite way to rock your bean mocks? Ever wear them barefoot? That's my favorite

One of the most inane initial posts in the history of AAAC. What the heck has happened to this site?
What on earth is wrong with guys on menswear sites? Why are so many of you socially retarded and such fundamentally unpleasant people? I've just 'fled' 2 menswear sites and hoped this place was better but seem to be encountering the same thing!
