This is good practice to quickly pack things. Marriage and Birth certificates fit in laptop bag nicely. Too bad I do not have mini bottles of Merlot to stash everywhere. Major bags were already packed and ready to go.

Level 2 has moved up to Canby, about 11 miles from here. I've got the important documents in the gun safe, ready to pop into a bag and toss in the car. I'm packing a runaway bag. The desktop will go in just before the poodle and I. Finger, toes and eyelids crossed.

Wildfire, Peak. The West Coast is burning and some of us are in zones where evacuation may be called for. Level 2 means "Have your valuables packed." Level 3 is "Get outta Dodge, now!"

Yup, and I just filled the tank. I'm going into Level 1.5 before I go to bed tonight, just to be sure.

The humidity seems to be rising and it looks like we have rain on the way next week. Keeping all extremities crossed!

You don't get your highest winds in the late summer. When the Nor'easters blow, it's already winter but when a big high pressure builds up over the Four Corners and the down slope winds rush down the West's canyons they raise the temperature and dry things out. California only gets rain in a normal year between October and March. In drought years the rains come late and stop early. So here we are at the tail of summer with tinder dry forests and high winds. That's bad enough but this year we got freak dry lightning and some freaks who decided to set off fireworks in the middle of a forested park.
