Leather soles care?

Hi,

I recently bought a pair of leather-soled shoes. I've never worn leather-soles so I had no idea what to expect. After a few hours of wear (mostly indoor and a short walk outside), I was shocked at how worn the soles became.

Is this kind of wear expected or should I have done something different (ie, only wear indoors)?

Any special care instruction for the soles? After I got home, I simply wiped it clean with a damp cloth.

Thanks!

I recommend not wearing your shoes in the rain or when it is wet outside. However, if you live in a climate where the ground is wet for the majority of the year (as I do) then I highly recommend that you have Topy's or Vibram's applied to your shoes.

Also, get a pair of Tingely rubber overshoes for the really wet and rainy days.

Finally, enjoy wearing your shoes. With proper care and maintenance, they will last for a good while.

Merry Christmas.

If by wear you are referring to scuffing, that's absolutely normal. I don't know what kind of shoes you have but I agree with the above post; don't wear in inclement weather and they should last a long time.

Not to worry. It isn't really wear, as such. Leather soles provide great durabiity, comfort, and traction in all but the worst conditions. They mar at first, but will hold up well. Just re-sole them every couple of hundred wearings, if the uppers are of good quality. Bill
