Have had good luck with Hilfiger stuff, hoping the streak contiues. Particularly like the collar and its attention to pattern balance.

That's a Manitoba cedar out your window? Next to pine, cedar's my favorite evergreen. (Maine is the Pine Tree State, my loyalties must follow.)

Referenced two posts above, but forgot I had inked the weave, my black AE Cody...

I don't know enough about trees to say whether that's a cedar. I refer to it as "one of the trees in our front yard. You know, one of the pointy ones. The one farthest from the maple." As a Canadian, I do recognize maples. My wife says she thinks it's a pine. But we both recognize peaks far better than pines.

Very interesting changing color of the shoe web. Hadn't heard of that till recently. Now I've seen guys make two toned shoes with multiple colors.

This half lined, 70s summer jacket by Palm Beach has arrived to complete my collection of summer jackets. It is puckered like seersucker but doesn't feel as soft as my cotton seersucker suit. Would part silk be a possibility? Perhaps it is partly polyester or another synthetic.

The plan is to wear it with solids according to @Peak and Pine 's principle that there should be only one main course.

One of my favourite places in the entire wide world is Friday Harbor in the San Juan Islands. It's the most beautiful ferry ride from Anacortes on the mainland (two hours north of Seattle) to Friday Harbor. And there are plenty of pines, especially lodgepole pines on that island, along with masses of golden eagles. Across the bay on the western edge is Victoria, British Columbia. I love the marine views and the cloudy skies.

Can I suggest we start a thread titled “View out my window” or something similar? That would be amazing. We have a huge Douglas Fir tree in our back yard. Makes for a calming view while working in the office. I don’t miss commuting one bit.

Nice idea. With so many working from home, maybe contributors could mention what they enjoy about the view or unusual sightings.

Unless you want to channel the late Duke of Windsor, you know the chap who decided he did not like the monarchy gig, LOL. The Duke could multiple patterns together, and usually carry it off. I'm with Peaks here, though -- I don't like that much visual noise in my clothes!

Last, but not least, your jacket looks very nice. It is probably seersucker, rather than some other blend. You may know this already: Two warp yarns held at normal and higher tension, are combined with the weft yarn to create the puckered stripes (higher tension) combined with the flat stripes (regular tension) in seersucker cloth. The name is from Persian or Urdu/Hindi, where sheer means milk and shaqar means sugar.

:) Thanks. Yes, I'll leave my pattern combining with jackets till the fall with very modest attempts on my tweeds which have patterns on darker fields than this jacket.

I'm open to correction, but my understanding is that seersucker is the weave rather than the fibers. I believe this to be seersucker in terms of the weave. I have two seersucker suits made of 100% cotton. Those suits are softer than this jacket. So, I think this is a seersucker weave but of fibers other than pure cotton. Hopefully, not all polyester, but I'll find out when I wear it a time or three.

Yes, it is the weave. The fibres were orginally cotton, but it is possible that other types of yarn or even polyester, could be used instead of 100% cotton. I have seen seersucker trousers with 100% polyester as well! Or at least, that is what the label claimed. Enjoy the jacket.

Beautiful! It does not look like a cedar or a pine to me. I'd say it was some sort of fir. What are the cones like?

Late June or Early July, Can't recall but I just discovered that Alan Paine makes polo's. I was in Hunter and Coggins in my new home of Asheville for a visit with Jim Hunter and discovered the Alan Paine polo in brown. I had been wanting a brown polo so this one just jumped onto the counter to go home with me. I will definitely be back at the end of the season to see if he has any left on sale. Good fit, nice sizing and a range of colors.
