Alex, it wouldn't seem as if this method wouldn't make much sense, but surprisingly, it's worked out pretty well for me most of my life. I've found that a jacket hem that rests at the second knuckle of my curled hand is usually just about right.
But I don't understand this, as most of my life I've had a torso that has been unusually long, and legs too short. (I write most of my life since I've lost about two inches of heigth as I've gotten older, and mostly in my torso. Good news - better proportion. Bad news - my legs are still too short!)
