I recently noticed my newer 42 regular sport coats and suit coat jackets from J. Press are cut a half inch longer then previous years purchases. Is this change exclusively with J. Press or is it a new standard in the industry? From top of collar to bottom of jacket it is thirty two inches rather then thirty inches.

oxford, in response to your post, I measured the length of four of my 42R J. Press sport coats. Two were suit coats and two were sport coats. In addition, two were spring/summer jackets and two were Fall/Winter jackets. Moreover, two were new this year and two were at least fifteen years old. The measurement was from the bottom of the interior collar of the jacket to the bottom of the jacket. Use measurement A in the attached image. Seeing that J. Press jackets all have hook vents. DO NOT measure to the vent opening, but rather, measure straight down the back seam to the bottom seam.

Outerwear White Product Sleeve Collar

Following that procedure produced four 42 Regular jackets measuring 31" from bottom of collar to bottom of jacket.

@Billax , this is a concise yet explicit instruction about how to measure the jacket length. Could not say it better than this.

While on the subject, would you mind if you can measure the chest and waist of just one J Press jackect without the front dart, if possible? I am curious about the sizing of the Sack cut from J Press. Even if all the jackets are darted, having one set of measurement can still enlighten me know how the J Press jacket are cut.

Thanks in advanve.

Belatedly, here are the size results of the following J. Press 42R, undarted sport coat:
Chest (pit-to-pit) 44.5"
Waist (measured at middle button) 41"

Here is the jacket I measured:

J. Press Herringbone, J. Press OCBD, J. Press tie.
