I really wanted to tuck this post into an existing thread, but couldn't find one close enough in theme.

If you haven't yet discovered J.Press' blog, this week's entry is a good start. Basically, Richard Press, the former owner and now employee / spokesperson for the present-day Japanese-owned J.Press, tells stories about Press' history while, softly, promoting the company.

Today's post, about a time when Sinatra was a customer, is a particular fun one as seen in this snippet:

I led Sinatra on a tour of the store and he eagerly picked out sport coats, ties, Oxford button-down shirts, Shaggy Dog sweaters, argyle socks and anything we had in orange-pocket squares, sweaters, and sweater vests. One of his pals explained that Sinatra had a special love of all things orange, a color he considered to be "upbeat." His California home was said to be decorated in an array of orange hues.
"Put together what goes with 'em. Same stuff you sell to your Yale big shots."

If he liked Orange, he would have been better off visiting Princeton.

Cheers,

I love this thread. I cannot imagine what it would have been like to meet either JFK or Bobby.
Lucky you, Paul.
Glad you are enjoying the thread.

You might also like this Press post that popped up earlier in the week:

It's not as good as the one that started this thread, but it's still enjoyable.

And, of course, you might want to sign up for the Press email alert.

I once stopped by a house in Carmel, CA to visit a lady housesitting there. this time the parking lot was full of cars with stick-shifts (in CA that year, there were not any sold). turned out to be a Kennedy house. No, I didn't get past Security.
