Today I took delivery of a J. Peterman hopsack blazer. It's an absolute delight. Soft, wonderfully draping fabric at the perfect thickness. Beautiful natural shoulders. Quarter lined and breathable. 3-roll-2 with patch pockets. Trim but not "fashiony" fit. Certainly a solid deal at $209 for an item I think I'll practically live in.

The working sleeves are a bit of a pain for me personally since I always have to get my sleeves shortened, but my tailor is a magician so it's not a deal breaker.

If you're looking for a hopsack blazer, I think you'll be very challenged to find a better deal than this.

Made in China, as expected for the price. It's constructed just as well as my U.S.-made blazers, though.

I resonate with the concern, but finding an undarted jacket these days often requires extremes in either time, money, or both, and the darts on this particular jacket are pretty subtle in real life.

Some day I'll start a clothing line that hits all the classic notes, and it will be a wonderful feeling when I completely overtake the market of the 40 guys in the world that care about such things.

When I started on Wall St. in the '80s, guys were regularly having conversations about darts, center vents, 3/2 button role, cuffs, pleats, breaks, and on and on. Not every single guy cared, but plenty did and these conversations were filler during slow markets. We'd argue about a Brooks versus a Press suit or whether or not you could wear pennies with a poplin suit in the summer (most said yes). But today, I have, literally, no one to have these conversation with on the trading floor.
