I needed a new winter-weather casual shoe, something that would take a beating outdoors but would brush up enough to wear in a business-casual environment. I settled on the Paraboot Avignon, found a pair on sale, and ordered them. (There is, incidentally, a Paraboot box in OldSarge's recent sad wardrobe photo.)

I like the shoe a lot. But it doesn't fit: too wide, and they don't seem to make narrow widths. So what should I get instead? A boot would work, or a low blucher like the Avignon. Not a leather sole. Thoughts, recommendations, tips?

I think there are many choices for you. A few that come to mind are from Paul Sargent Shoes: the Brompton, the Stepney and the Russell. The Sons of Henrey Ambly chukka is a good boot, as is the Cheaney Jackie III. Herring Shoes probably has a bunch of options for you, too.

If anyone can tell me where to buy the Paraboot Montaigne with a leather sole, I would appreciate it.

Citishoes in NYC had it, but I failed to buy it before they closed. Paraboot's website only features the rubber sole version.
