I was out and about in Georgetown and Tysons Corner while shopping for a down jacket . I couldn't help noticing that 90% of the people on M Street and in Tysons Corner Center ( home of a L.L. Bean store ) were wearing black jackets . It appears to be the only color that Middle Eastern people will wear . Why does everyone choose black ? The coolness factor ? To fit in with everyone else ? A fear of other colors !? I'm curious as to what your thoughts are and if you own a color other than black . Thanks in advance.

How did middle eastern people get into this? In any case, black because it goes a well as anything with everything. Once you commit to red, blue, etc in the traditional loud colors of those types of jackets come in, you find black is the easiest to pair. When I was climbing we chose red for visibility. Black was more an urban thing and sure enough my Canada Goose jacket is granite in color. No much call for it in NOVA but in the northeast to which I travel, it is perfect.

Black is neutral and easier to clean. If not black, or perhaps navy, then what? Especially since we are talking about technical garments.

Are you the PC Police here as well ? I merely commented that this culture appears to have an inordinate predilection for black . I can assure you that it was not a xenophobic comment as I'm actually quite fond of Arabs and Persians. My observation was borne out by dining at a Persian restaurant and visiting Tysons Corner Center the same evening .

Navy is a good dark alternative indeed .
