hey guys. i bought MIUSA suits from Hardwick for myself and my groomsmen.

most were fine, but on ~2-3/9 suits the seam that runs vertically down the back of the seat split after wearing.

is this a sign of bad quality or just bad luck? easy fix, i presume?

thanks!

Maybe a sign of your groomsmen buying suits that were too small for them.
^ That probably explains it.

Especially in combination with TALAS: Typical American Large Ass Syndrome

And yes--sewing up a ripped seat seam is an easy repair.

Not so easy: slimming down the derrière. Possible, but difficult.

Hardwick makes a good product, I've been to that factory a few times. They're based out of the Chattanooga, TN area.

If it wasn't because the pants were too tight along with some unusual movement, I would think that the machine that did that operation, probably on all the pants in the group, was either not calibrated correctly (until they caught the problem) or the stitching thread was flawed (rare, but can happen). It's unfortunate, but as others have said, it's an easy repair.

I have two Hardwick sport coats and they seem to be very high quality and I would definitely buy from them again
I can second that. Have recently purchased 2 blazers through Carl at men's suits and they fit really well. Most modern fit jackets are too slim for me, but these lay very nicely. I just had to get the sleeves shortened and about a half inch let out in the back. Nice fabrics and light as feathers.

If the fabric is lighter weight, consider staying the seam for extra strength. On a vintage polyester light knit pants, I not only stayed the seam though also added a zigzag stitch inboard and against the strait stitch just to be sure didn't happen again and try to put less stress on the seam. Hope this helps.
