What do you think of high-waisted trousers with suspenders?
Generally, I like them.

Normal or wide trouser leg?
I don't know what you mean by the term "normal." Anyway, it's not a binary deal. Who said we have only two choices? There's a continuum between trim and wide (or between "normal"-whatever that means-and wide). I prefer that the width of my trouser legs be approximately halfway between trim and wide.

Generally speaking, however, the optimal width of a trouser leg depends on the person wearing the trousers and on the overall style of trouser.

Which one of look do you [like] better from photos?
Caveat: I don't like the super-wide waistband of either pair. Too eccentric for me. I like full-rise trousers, but only with a standard waistband. Still, the game is: Which pair of trousers do I like better? I'll play along.

I prefer the trousers in the top photo. I don't like the waistband, and the legs are too long, but the width of the legs is in proportion to the overall style of trouser.

The legs of the trousers in the second photo are too tapered from the knee down in my opinion.

Having said all this, I'll add that you should not be concerned with what others think about your clothes. Wear the clothes that you like, even if they have some eccentric flourishes. Your body, your life. If you are happy with both pairs trousers, that's all that matters.

Spoken from the perspective of the Southeastern USA, wouldn't your gun ride a bit high with those? ;)

Agree about the wide waistband; I always assumed that wasn't meant to be seen, since you'd be wearing it with a frock coat or the like.

My preference is high rise trousers and often worn with suspenders. I rather like to have my suspenders/braces covered with jacket most of the time. I like my dress trousers to drape rather than puddle and bunch with excessive fabric from top to bottom. I personally don't like either look.

But that's just me.

As to DHallers reference to sidearm riding too high, I agree. I like grip at about wrist height.

I like the high waist, and I own a pair of high waist 1940s army issue trousers that look great, but a jacket or jumper is required, otherwise the look is spoiled.
Of course, the whole point of this, from a wardrobe perspective, was to capture a casual moment.

These high-waisted trousers presume addition of a jacket. The top of the trousers are essentially underwear.
Agreed.

Don't agree that they're essentially underwear.

I like high waisted trousers with a wide waistband even with no jacket, and with no belt loops. It adds a nice sleek look with a long leg line.

I like the first one better, but even as someone who likes wide waistbands, they're far too wide for me.

The leg is quite full, I'd like less fullness with a hard crease on the trousers, and less break as well.

2nd pants I'd leg like less taper from the knee down, the hem opening is too narrow and consequently break is too long as well.

Well, to each his own, of course.

The look just brings to mind - my mind - Martin Short's "Ed Grimley" character.

I have fairly long legs, so I'm usually looking for ways to lengthen my torso relative to my legs. It's all about solving local problems!

That's a hell of a rise and I agree would only work with a jacket. High rise can be vague, to me that's anything around my navel and up.

I meant something more like this

Thank you for your comments!
I really enjoy your feedback.
I myself like the waistband and also about one inch above navel. I have new trousers coming and I can make some decisions still how they will look.
They are my fourth pair of this kind of trousers. On the photo there are third pair.
