I have just bought my first pair of Church Balmoral and I am eagerly tracking them as they wing their way to me. Should be here by next Tuesday.

However I have noticed that Herring Greenwich Monk Strap is on sale for GBP115. So how do they fit in the scheme of English shoes or should I wait till I can afford a pair of Church Monk Strap's?

Some of Herring's own-name shoes are made for them by Loake, and the cheaper ones are made in Loake's 'overseas factory' (in India, I believe), so they don't really fit in the scheme of English shoes at all.

And some of the cheaper shoes are also made in Portugal, it seems.

Is that the Graduate collection?

Yes, that's right. As far as I am aware, the other (more expensive, naturally) Herring ranges are all made by reputable Northamptonshire firms such as Alfred Sargent, Cheaney and the English branch of Loake.
