I never did like the phrase "Preppy." To my way of thinking, a tad too adolescent and frivolous. And I'm pretty sure it's not the same thing that we might describe as "American Trad." But lately I've seen articles on the return of the so-called "Preppy" look. Again, not a phrase I prefer, but perhaps it does overlap a bit with the look so many know as "Trad" or "Ivy League." Nowadays I'm seeing a lot of madras and grosgrain--perhaps even more than I recall from the early-to-mid-80s. Interesting how cyclical "fashion" is.
