Just wanted to seek concensus of this august group on handwashing woolens.

I am thinking of hand washing worsted, flannel, and other woolen trousers, instead of dry cleaning them. Mainly to avoid chemicals on the fabric, but also in the hope of prolonging the life of the apparel.

The intended regiment is probably as follows - wear for one day, rest for at least one day being hung in a well aired place, steam and kept in closet. Repeat for another wear, and handwash in lukewarm water, no soap, no wringing to dry, and hung on the cuffs in warm place to dry. Iron with steam iron after drying.

Any thoughts for or against this routine?
