I managed to step in a puddle of gas while filling up my car on Friday. My shoes now reek of gas and the leather soles are discolored. Any suggestions as to what, if anything, can be done to get rid of the smell and minimize the discoloration? I'm wondering also if that will have any long-term effects on the shoes - it looks as if the consistency of the leather on the soles has changed in spots.
