Still on my journey to figure which style of pants suit me best, I have decided to stick with flat front with any cotton pants (jeans, gabardine, and moleskin) as pleats for me don't work in cotton.
Linen and wool pants however are still up in the air. I haven't been able to find any single reverse pleated trousers so for now I'll ask you all which pair looks better on me and my larger gut: flat front or Double Forward pleats? The materials are completely different I am aware but this was all I had. The flat front pants are 8 oz. Tropical Wool from Berle and the double forward pleat pair is 12 oz. wool flannel from O'Connell's. More photos can be uploaded if needed.

I just (yesterday) commissioned two pair of casual slacks/trousers. Tailor had me try on several pairs of slacks, single/double pleats and flat front; and a discussion on each. He ended up strongly suggesting flat front for me. We both agreed the flat front made me look slightly slimmer. So, flat front for me.

I agree the flat front is more flattering on you. Recently in a photo sharing clothing group I looked at approximately 15 of the most recent photos by each of 15 of the members I consider best dressed. Because some photos weren't clear enough to know for certain, the results were that between 73% and 80% showed cuffs. However, three of the gentlemen showed cuffs in half of their photos and no cuffs in the other half. All three dress very well and their ratio is 50%-50%. If we delete them from the sample, the results would fall between 80% and 90% of the photos showing cuffs.

My conclusion is that cuffs are heavily favored by most men who dress well but because approximately 10% - 20% showed no cuffs and three very well dressed men didn't favor either approach, it is up to personal preference and cuffless is perfectly fine.

RS,
Great choice on the pleats, they look solid & timeless!
You could go with a bigger hem, to weight the bottom down & the trou will hang better, if pleats are not your style. The boys in Buffalo are a great resource.
