In September of last year I posted the following in the September Acquisitions thread: https://askandyaboutclothes.com/community/threads/september-acquisitions.237947/page-3#post-1845549

Well, I'm afraid now I'm gonna have to give them away. Why, you ask? Because they're now too big for me! I can now fit into the same pants waist size I had all throughout high school and college! Not that I would ever wear pants without a belt, mind you, but if I did, and someone wanted to be a jerk and pants me, they could very easily do so. And even with a belt on I have to cinch it to the last hole!

So yeah, I'm looking at new jeans, new chinos, new belts, a new suit, and even new underwear. I'm thrilled, but at the same time I wish it weren't such a hassle!

This is great news! Good for you!

I hate in this case to be a voice of reason, but our bodies are beautifully built to avoid starvation. So it is very difficult to lose weight for good. Not impossible, but very difficult. The statistics are daunting: only 5 to 10% maintain a 10% or more weight loss after five years. A wise move would be to put your big clothes in storage.

I'll have you know that I'm not starving at all; I eat right, run, play tennis, and do CrossFit. And now that you've told me I won't be able to keep it up (oh sure you said it's "difficult" but "not impossible" -- tomato, tomahto), stand back and watch me succeed!

Or we can put a positive spin to it: let's just assume that the fat burning journey is a never-ending task by eating right, doing exercises and take care of yourself. Eventually your body will steer away from the bad stuff and you are better than you were yesterday, or last year for this matter.

At a certain point in time numbers on scale is no longer relevant, burning fat is more important than losing weight. Clothing come second.

Keep up the good work and continue doing so.

I second the suggestion to keep some clothing that you have outgrown. About 8 years ago I dropped a total of 30 lbs, and managed to keep it off thus far. I went from a 44 jacket to a 38. I did get rid of all those clothes. For about the last year I have dropped another size. I've bought some new clothes--mostly pants--but I'm not getting rid of those that are only 1 size up.

Speaking of which, how is your journey going, eagle? Are you still drinking those horrible shakes?
My journey seems to have become what I would describe as a long, slow walk in a circle, so to speak. I've dropped about 12 to 14 pounds, reducing the waistline measurement from 40" to 38". However, I seem to be stuck at that point, now losing, gaining and re-losing the same two or three additional pounds over and over again! Getting old really sucks when it comes to dieting, but still seems better than the other option(s)! LOL. ;)

PS: I still keep those "horrible shakes" in the fridge, as a threat to encourage my staying true to a diet of salad greens that would put a big smile on a herbivore's face! Thanks for asking. :)

That's my story as well. I dropped over 40 pounds since last February but I stalled before reaching my goal. Now I'm on the lose a pound, gain a pound carousel right along side you. I'm comfortable at the weight I am now, though its a little precarious. I'd like to drop another 10 as a buffer zone. I'll keep trying.

I have lost and gained back a hundred pounds on three separate occasions. I’m down about sixty from my heaviest right now.

I would advise against getting rid of all the larger size clothes. You can always get them out to remind yourself of how much weight you have lost.
