My Salvation Army BB sack - 3/8 lined, hopsack - is my favorite, because it fits, I didn't have to alter it, it cost five bucks, and in the Heated Age I can wear it year-round without perishing.
That would my favorite, but I can't find one. The navy blue camel hair is great, but I'll just have to keep looking. My Salvation Army BB sack - 3/8 lined, hopsack - is my favorite, because it fits, I didn't have to alter it, it cost five bucks, and in the Heated Age I can wear it year-round without perishing.
Ditto. I have that jacket, although I'd call it more of a "three seasons" weight. It's a little too beefy for the heat of the summer, at least here in the South. The Press summer weight with the famous blackwatch lining.
Patrick-of all the words of wisdom you've shared in my nearly four years here on AAAC this comment brought it home best. While I like the idea of seasonal wardrobes the fact that even in Chicago the winters haven't been anything like they were 30 years ago and factor in office thermostats set to please anorexic exhibitionists/near nudists, wearing flannel, tweed or cashmere just isn't pleasant anymore. I've got a flannel blazer and a hopsack and they both have seen better days. Rather than replacing both I'm going to get the GF MTM in a 3r2 sack and wear it all year.My Salvation Army BB sack - 3/8 lined, hopsack - is my favorite, because it fits, I didn't have to alter it, it cost five bucks, and in the Heated Age I can wear it year-round without perishing.
Shoulder problem. I like the natural shoulder, but my shoulders are wide, and so I've tried sacks that are so tight I can't wear them. I've had that problem at Brooks, and I'm wondering how I'll do with OC. Or maybe Press. I'm leaning toward the Brooks, but as I've said I often have trouble and have to look at jackets that are far too big.

both of the southwick blazers on STP are two button. One is a dorset model which is not a sack. The other one doesn't say, but it is probably a non-sack model as well. Still, they look pretty good.I just noticed a Southwick blazer at SierraTrading last night. It looked like a sack, reduced from $795 to $399. It's a two button navy twill, made in the US from imported components. Sizes: 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 46, 48, 50. Still too rich for me, esp. online, but if I found one in a shop that fit perfectly at that price, I might just do something foolish.
(I hope its alright to post this here).
