Today, I got on the elevator at work with this guy. He was in his 30s, I guess. Ralph Lauren Polo shirt, decent trousers.

But his shoes!!! They were tan, and came to this square line, all around the top. For a second, I thought maybe he was testing out his Halloween footwear a day early.

Gentlemen, my question is: Why would anybody go around looking like that? Don't they know how ridiculous these shoes look? I could care less what Details magazine thinks--they are clunky and ugly!

Gentlemen, I wouldn't wear those horrid creations for sex, money, or free tickets to a Fred Astaire film festival.

Why this lunacy?

Kind Regards,

Chase

evolved from sneakers?

I used the term 'Herman Munster shoes' in reference to some blocky square-toed formal shoes I got stuck renting about two years ago. The description is quite adequate.
My guess is that the metrosexuals need one decidedly unfeminine item to assert their masculinity, and clunky shoes somehow won,

Square toed, glued, off shore made crap are the order of the day lately. Even with people who dress fairly well, wear decent enough suits, and you would think no better. Its a rather pervasive trend that I just dont get.

A friend of mine used to dress reasonably well, considering that he never had the joy of working in an office that wasn't "business casual."

But he bought the most "fashion-forward" Kenneth Cole shoes.

"Fashion-forward" deriving from the Cantonese word for "utter crap."

Really? You can't imagine why? Maybe because he could care less about clothing or shoes like 90% of the male population?
Oh, I know, cpac. It just seems to me that although men's "style" is pretty wacked out right about now, these shoes are so effin' ugly I can't imagine why anyone would want to wear them.

Kind Regards,

Chase
