Gentlemen,

I regret to inform you yet another bastion of Classic Menswear has fallen. Equus Leather in England has long been a mainstay for those of us who enjoy finely made goods.

I am thankful for the belt I received last year. Exemplary quality in every way.

Equus is no longer taking orders and it is my understanding that everyone who had current orders with them will not be receiving their items. Truly a sad state of affairs...

Equus joins an ever growing list of UK shops and manufacturers who have been driven asunder by the current social/political/economic climate.

Chester Jeffries, Pediwear Shoes and now Equus immediately come to mind. I wonder who will be next?

Cheers!

Sad news! Equus was a long time advertiser here and Charlie is a great gentleman.
@Andy sad news indeed. Their prices were reasonable and the service was great. Yes, I have interacted with Charlie several times and have always felt he was astute and kind.

I think the current atmosphere regarding the global economy is very volatile. Supply chain issues, problems with securing competent employees and a general distrust for authority combined with the mania associated with the pandemic and a plethora of other issues have all contributed to a generally unhealthy humanity in the West.

My hope is this is all merely a "phase" but my gut tells me the worst is yet to come...

I believe a "distrust of authority" can be completely warranted or not. Much depends on the validity, integrity and lawfulness of the "authority" in question.

No!!! This one hurts. I’ve purchased 3 belts from them - all fabulous quality. Between them and Chester Jeffries, it is getting really depressing. Seems like all the good makers are closing or going down the tubes (BB).

Each maker that takes pride in its craft offers its own distinguishing elements. Equus belts are truly beautiful. I never had one, but I love the hefty bridle leather style, something that will last and age gracefully. I love my belt in that style from Leather Man with its quirky hoof pick buckle. A nice thing that will last and age with you rather than disintegrating in front of you is one of life's delights.
