Gentlemen:

I paid my first visit to the Kiton store in New York this weekend.

The neckties were thickly woven and strikingly colored. However, I observed that the standard construction pieces were made, barring the self-linings, from only two pieces of fabric. For a long time I believed the claim, though without knowing its rational or credibility, that standard construction ties of only two pieces are inferior to those of three.

Could any of the knowledgeable users of this forum put my doubts to rest?

Even if my doubts are unmerited, would you still think that these pieces are worth the $200+ price. Certainly the self-lining is an elegant touch that significantly enhances the value of the tie, but since noone but the owner ever sees the lining, I'm not sure that it's worth the cost. Any opinions?
