Has anyone had good/bad experiences with Donald Pliner shoes? I picked up a couple of pairs at Nordstroms a few years ago and thought they wore well and sharply (for a $200 shoe, at any rate). But I've had some recent experiences lately that aren't as good. His shoes are made in "the mountains of Italy." But my latest pair feels more like the valleys of Lebanon. My shoe man even told me that it has a soft faux leather finish that fooled me. And, for that reason, he won't be able to polish the tips adequately.
