Hi folks.

I got a pair of the Alden plain toe bluchers from Brooks last Friday in 11D. I typically wear 11D in all my other shoes. They seemed to fit OK in the store.

I wore them out on Sat night, and the shoes have this strange wear pattern on the soles at the tips of the toes. It looks as if it's going to grind right through to the toe box within a month. Now the shoes have loosened up a bit, and they feel slightly too big.

Someone told me the toe wear was a symptom of shoes too long, because the toe is dragging on each step instead of lifting.

Then this morning I read that many Alden lasts run half a size long.

Anyone have experience with interpreting shoe wear patterns in terms of fit?

I know shoe fit is my responsibility at the store, but don't you think the salesperson should have told me if the Alden's run a half size larger than standard?

This is my first nice pair of shoes, and it appears I really screwed up.
Thanks for the advice..
