I will be staying in the States a little while longer and was talking to my very American wife the other day about seeing more of the states other than NYC.

Was thinking about doing a trip to DC as a bit of a working vacation. If anyone is interested in setting up an appointment in the next couple of weeks please let me know.

I specialise in British Savile row quality Bespoke, being a veteran of Gieves, Richard James and Timothy Everest. The moderator medwards graciously added me onto his list of visiting Savile row tailors.

A veteran of RJ? Were you working with Jim Levett?

Yes with Brian. I was on RJ's payroll though I worked in the store. I was dubbed "head of light entertainment" partially because I kitted out a lot of the (better) dressed British comedians.

I am good freinds with Dagmar and Michael Hill.
Did you dress Jimmy Carr?

You are obviously someone who is very well informed RJman.

I liked your additions to the Medwards list of Savile Row tailors. Whatever happened to nick tentis?

Maybe we should keep these communications off the thread though as they are breaking all the rules.

Mind you, I do like how this keeps my thread up top quite nicely.

Did you ever meet Sean Dixon?

No, never did get to meet Sean. I bought something once from Clive Darby before he became some executive at Kilgour.

When the mods decide to chide us we can take it offline.

Is Nick Tentis no longer in teh Avery Row? It actually was very hard to find any of his stuff until Horrids carried him in their so-called British Tailoring Room, at which point his stuff was revealed to be frankly kind of tatty. Was he ever a tailor (like Everest) or just a designer (like RJ, Boateng, etc.)?

The best of the British tailor-designer people (that is, designers focusing on classic men's tailoring) today seems to be Oscar Udeshi on Davies Street. Honest about his clothes, fanatical about quality and construction, and a very nice guy.

Actually Timothy is not a tailor...I used to work for him too! He is very talented though and a nice chap. Strangely obsessed with Tommy Nutter, who also I could be wrong...... was not actually a tailor.

I think Nick has imploded somewhere.

Clive has left Kilgour you know, he was seen at piti recently I reckon he is going to go it alone and good luck to him. Clive actually intervied me and gave me the job at RJ I couldn't take my eyes off his eyeliner through out.

Who was Brian's assistant at James Levitt? The one that went to Bognor Regis for his honey moon?

I think most of the so-called New Savile Row tailors are obsessed with Nutter as a sort of touchstone for the change they supposedly brought to the Row. Nutter was not a tailor.

I have no idea who you are talking about in the last paragraph -- I honestly am not RJ and never worked for him! Btw did you know Olok or Elodie?

I know you asked RJ man but if you want my recomendation other than myself I would say go to Richard Anderson. Former Huntsman (it's not as good since he left) the most stylish house on the row now I think.

Myself and a lot of the other younger chaps working on the Row would often socialize and hang out. We came from Kilgour, Gieves and Richard James....we would all get exited about his windows.

Good to hear Nick is still doing business. I have met Nick several times and have always enjoyed talking to him. In fact the vintage Omega watch I am wearing on my website was purchased at his old shop. Doesn't sound good he is turning work down though.

3000 from Nick is quite good considering his quality and overheads. I don't think anybody could make you a suit as good as Nick for less than 2000 so I cant help you there even if you order five. I would have to cut corners and that would not be good for anybody.

If your looking for a less expensive option than Bespoke maybe you should think about MTM? Several members of the forum are clients of mine and T1million has posted a thread with a little review and photos of a suit I made for him. I don't think the pictures do the suit it's full justice but at least it's on a real client and not photo shopped, pinned up etc.

A suit in MTM starts at $1500 or 1000 Pounds.

Next week for an appointment could work, but for specifics like this you really should use Private Messaging or contact me directly as according to the Forum rules.

Best,

Dave.
