I’m an Alden wearer but I cannot get a good, comfortable fit. Are there any high-quality, traditional, custom shoe makers anywhere on the east coast? London or Spain? Thanks.

While I am not a customer I did inherit a few pairs of Alden's from a AAAC member who is a customer of Perry Ercolino.

Please get back with us with your impressions of whomever you find to make your shoes.

Best regards,

Alden has many different lasts and widths. Are you sure you can't find one that works for you? How much are you looking to spend on custom shoes? You'd be looking to spend around $4,000 for good custom shoes. What style are you looking for?

Alden is a brand with deep orthopedic roots. You should consider traveling to a brick and mortar where they will fit you properly. Be prepared to try on many different size/width combinations till you attain ideal fitting…

Alden Trubalance and Modified lasts are orthotic in nature…

Agree…if you actually go to an Alden store and get properly fitted, you’ll find what you need.

Sir. depending on your budget, you could try John Lobb.

I agree wholeheartedly with John Lobb.
I have shoes that are 35+ years old that are as traditionally stylish today as they were when they were created by Lobb.
Second choice, also of London, Edward Green.
Off the rack, Crockett & Jones of Northampton, may an exceptional product.

Have you also considered Loake 1880 or 200B?
Saint Crispin's has something they call their cyberfitting service. Also for their MTO orders, they have an option to do a "personal last." You might want to contact them and see if they can help you.
