I’m planning to spiff up some OTR suits. I’m not having much luck finding a good custom button source. Any recommendations?

Any rules of thumb on range of button sizes that are acceptable for front of jacket and for sleeves?

Coat front buttons and smaller sleeve buttons are usually clearly specified. The best materials are horn for suits, and horn, metal such as brass or pewter for sport jackets, woven leather, mother of pearl and smoked mother of pearl, each of which offers a different effect.

Coat front buttons should be 3/4 of an inch in diameter while all other buttons should 5/8 of an inch in diameter. As for button sources, all of the sources mentioned above will do.

I strongly recommend Corozo buttons only of you want to match the color of the buttons to the primary color of the garment. Otherwise, stick with the materials mentioned that the other members already recommended.
