One of the london tailors apparently uses cotton for lining (on linen and tropical weight) claiming that it is cooler. Any comments?

I am thinking of using Italian 2x2 shirting cotton to line my next jacket. It is a pique weave - thread count with a high sheen. Doesnt have the matt look of cotton. Any ideas about durability, comfort etc?
