Cords: J. Press or O'Connell's

A few years ago I purchased a couple pairs of cords from Brocklehursts in the UK, on the recommendation of someone from this forum. The fabric and construction are excellent. It's a heavy, somewhat stiff corduroy; exactly what I wanted.

Unfortunately, I've come to accept that the fit is just not right for me. I want a higher rise and a more generous top block. So I am planning to buy a new pair. I am looking primarily at J. Press and O'Connell's 8-wale options.

Both use English fabric; the J. Press are made in the USA and the O'Connell's in Canada. The J. Press are $185 and the O'Connell's $255. Factoring in the cost of shipping and hemming (I can buy the J. Press at the store in person and I believe they will hem for free), and that's close to a $100 difference in price.

Can anyone compare these trousers directly? Are the O'Connell's $100 nicer than the J. Press?

Thank you in advance for any insight.
Sorry, I am unable to comment directly. I do have experience with Canada, when Brooks sourced top of the line cords from Canada. They were the best corduroys I've ever owned, have a pair made in Italy now made from sea island cotton, similar. The textile industry in Quebec is first class and recall, O'Connell's is in Buffalo which is adjacent to Ontario across the Niagara.
