cordovan & black?

A young man in my office, came by sporting cordovan shoes, tan pants, & a white polo shirt with black embroidery & ribbing (collar & cuffs). Am I wrong, or this completely unacceptable? I really do not approve of "casual day" but personally, drop to a necktie, khakis/poplins, & sports jacket on these abominable days.
