I have a tan gabardine topcoat in a wonderful fluid, hard-finished wool that is starting to show its age and will need replacement fairly soon, like this coming fall or the one after.

It's a Hart, Schaffner & Marx, well more than a decade old, in a d.b., belted (but no epaulets) body style, like a trenchcoat but w/out all the extra geegaws. It has no woolen or polyester lining, just Bemberg rayon (i.e., it's a lightweight topcoat).

Despite constant searching, I've never been able to find its like on a rack anywhere, but reading about Field Tailors of Georgetown, DC, on the MB has got me curious about talking with them regarding whether they could make a copy of the coat for me to succeed the aging veteran.

Can anyone w/ experience give me an idea of whether the Messrs. Fields do this kind of work, what their price range would be, and so on?

Other thoughts, recommendations, etc. are welcome too, of course.
