I have a well fitting light blue shirt with frayed collar and cuffs. Has anyone tried to make a contrast collar shirt from one they own?

I would like to hear about it. Is there a source of premade collars and cuffs I could purchase?

Is this a project where it would be better to just buy a shirt with one already?

Any advice or guidance is appreciated. Thank you

There is no source of premade collars and cuffs of which I'm aware. Plus, you would need to take it to a competent tailor, preferably one who is a shirtmaker, unless you are yourself sufficiently skilled to do this. They would then have to detach the existing collars and cuffs, cut new ones, and attach them. If they made the original shirt, this is a much simpler process, and not all that difficult for them to do. If not, more so. But in either case I'd be surprised if the cost is less than a new shirt unless the shirt at issue is fairly costly.

Whoa.
Is this a button down or a non-button down without stays?
If so, you can turn the collar.

Insert a blade between the collar and collar-band, gently slice it free, flip, re-insert and hand-stitch back on using the original needle holes as a guide, for both ease and insurance of a straight seam. No ma'sheen. This is hand-work (something to delight in). If you've not done this before, and I assume you and everybody else here hasn't, turn the radio on to BLANK (Miami Marlins in my case) and settle back for a 1 1/2 to 2 hour task that isn't really a task.

Collars can/could be purchased. I have a bunch from English shirt maker Thomas Pink. Bought some time ago, may not be still offered.
