Since Alden dress shoes come with combination rubber/leather heels, I have developed a fetish about replacing them in kind. It's a bit of a challenge, since most cobblers refuse to order the Cats Paw heel that is similar, since it is expensive, and they can't sell many.
I have found one cobbler in our small town that will order Cats Paw replacements. Other than that, it is possible to order the replacement heels from Alden, and take them to the cobbler, which is a bit of a bother.
What is your experience? I probably shouldn't care and just go with the rubber replacements that are in general usage. However, they seem as off putting as the man that won't wear over the calf socks with a suit, and bare ankle shows.
Admittedly a trivia item, but do you have a view?
