I have a Schott Waxed Natural Pebbled Cowhide Racer Jacket in brown that I only wore once. I did not apply anything to the coat and wore it out of the box.

It has never been exposed to rain, snow, or any sort of mositure or weather like that. When I arrived home that evening I noticed there were a number of small black/dark spots on the jacket. Two were on the front bottom left of the jacket. I tried to apply saddle soap and used Saphir Renovateur but unfortunately I am left with these much larger dark spots and am concerned I have unknowingly and unintentionally stripped this leather. Any advice on how to repair/restore this? Should I have conditioned the leather before wearing it?

Have you considered a competent leather cleaner? I understand there are still a few around...

When you bought the jacket, did you carefully inspect it out of the box to see if the small dark spots were there? I may be off on this, but I have a hunch that the spots may have been a flaw in the jacket (especially if you bought it as seconds). Now that you have tried to clean the jacket, it may not be returnable even if my hunch were true.
I have had this sort of experience with clothes I have thrifted, and despite a careful inspection, noticed blemishes and even holes in sports jackets and other garments -- not a big loss financially and I have recycled those garments.

I have a nice collection of finely made leather jackets. This Schott 530 is one of mine. The leather is very supple and shows scratches easily.

The spots you mention are not abnormal. My 530 has broken in nicely and has a wonderful patina. If you desire a jacket that does not patina so easily, then I recommend a different maker.

Otherwise, enjoy your 530! Wear it in the rain and snow. Let it get beat up and battered. The 530 is technically a motorcycle jacket and is designed as such.

If you find you cannot bear the dark spots then take the jacket to someone who may be able to even out the color for you!
