Beautiful Chester Barrie DB in my size. Would you wear it, or is it too dated?

It appears to be chalk stripe flannel, is that correct? I have a chalk stripe SB flannel suit that’s basically my favourite suit, and I’m a big fan of DB (two blazers and one suit.)

I’d be all over this.

Not remotely dated, it's an absolute classic that should be worn. The one and only Chester Barrie suit that I owned is but a memory, a fond memory.

At one time, in my opinion, Chester Barrie suits were superior to the Samuelsohn that I own and nearly on par with several main line Oxxford suits and sports jackets that I own

Just received this today and it fits nearly perfect. The only alteration I will make is cuffing the trousers and adding buttons for suspenders. It is quite heavy and definitely a winter wear suit. Will post a pic when I get it back from the cleaners.

You, sir, are now the owner of a truly terrific classic suit! Just about everything about it is spot on; style, cut. cloth and tailoring. It's been a long time since I handled a piece of Chester Barrie clothing, but it was some of the finest RTW tailoring I'd ever seen.

The last time I asked my tailor to sew on buttons, it was $3 per button.

My tailor does them free for me but I think $ 2.00 a piece seems reasonable on a one time basis.

When I do the math for the exchange rate, my tailor charges pretty much the same. Money well spent. Congratulations on a great find and purchase!

I sew them on myself. I bought a bunch of buttons in the correct size and some heavy thread. I give them a nice shank to accommodate the leather strap on the suspenders. Quite a pleasurable task on a Saturday morning while imbibing my cappuccino.

I'm not bad with shirt buttons, but I did see it is a heavier thread they use. what is it called? I am starting to want braces even on a few chinos.

Button thread. On suspender buttons you need to make a shank.

I pulled a set off of an old suit for my lady to use, looked thicker than most thread. (My WWII Navy Pea Coat look like dental floss for those buttons).
