I feel like our in person shopping options are getting extremely limited. Here are just some fun stores we lost - Syms, Today's Man, Brooks Brothers, Feline's Basement, Daffy's, Lord & Taylor, Century 21 and others are gone for good. These were not exclusively high end stores, but shopping these was fun and I loved going there occasionally to hunt for exciting finds.I think we Tri-state AAAC members will be plunged into a pit of despair. Though at least I won't have to walk aimlessly around the Westbury store while my mother indulges her appetite for American bargains.
Thinking back on it, though, there was very little I ever bought there. $40 Lanvin ties, a sevenfold Bulgari tie for a similar price, a Polo shirt or two. I miss Syms far more.
After we are through with Covid, what will we have left in NY to shop in person? Jos A Bank (all their nice deals are online anyway), Charles Tyrwhitt (tiny place), Men's Wearhouse (I hope I don;t have to go back there). That's it!
It looks like in person shopping is dead and the future is Amazon.
