In looking at my wardrobe in anticipation of fall / winter, I noticed that I have 2 pairs of charcoal grey wool trousers with cuffs.
Is it possible / advisable to remove the cuffs on one pair?
Will the impression of the former cuffs still be visible?
Should I just buy another pair and hem them without cuffs?

I agree that it will work just fine to un-cuff them. The only problem with flannel is lengthening uncuffed trousers because the wear at the original hem will be visible.
I think it would depend on the amount of wear. Given flannel's heavier , courser texture it might not be much of a problem. Unless the fibers are completely worn away, gentle steaming and brushing may raise the fiber enough to be imperceptible.

I find that flannel wears quite fast on folds, and it's very difficult to raise the nap well when it has been pressed a few times.

I have read through this several times...I get that the words are in english, but the order makes no sense....

"...remove the cuffs...."

Add cuffs I understand, but remove?!?
Both cuffed trousers and trousers without cuffs are found in my wardrobe, but the trousers without cuffs outnumber the ones with cuffs by at least four to one. Further, I don't think I've worn cuffed trousers but one time in the past three years! There's your reason. ;)
