A weird question, and I'm not able to provide a photo right now, but is there any possibility of this working?

Navy blazer
White OCBD
Burgundy knit tie
AND
Burgundy chinos

I had planned a casual but smart look to meet with some colleagues in a business casual setting. I really like the shirt/jacket/tie together. The reason for the burgundy chinos is that they happen to be my best fitting and most comfortable trousers. Is the double burgundy a no-go?

Thanks everyone for the replies. In the end I went with a madras tie from BB. Now this I think is a winning combination. I'm wearing it today at work though the get together planned has been cancelled. Oh well.

Is this what you're going for?

In my opinion the only way burgundy chinos works is very casually, which these are, but the top half is out of sync with the bottom half. A thin Merino cardigan would work much better.
I agree, but think that shortcoming can be addressed by three simple improvements (leaving aside the ill-fitting pants and wince-generating rolled up jacket sleeves): (1) the shirt should have a button down collar, (2) his tie should be a cotton knit, and (3) the blazer should be on the more casual end of the spectrum, perhaps even an unstructured seersucker or linen.

The only burgundy trousers I recommend are cords. And wear these in the Autumn religiously...like to every Sunday brunch.

I agree with BSR- Burgundy in trousers needs to be reserved for wide wale cords. I often wear them in winter with blazer or black/white herring bone sport coats.

Burgundy cords are on my shopping list now. I have a great black/white herringbone sack sportcoat from J Press that I'd like to pair with more variety of trousers. Thanks for the inspiration.

Having read this post, my burgundy moleskins are currently cowering in the wardrobe. I shall coax them out once they are sufficiently recovered.

Moleskin was absent from my mind as they are currently, and sadly, absent from my wardrobe. They deserve better.

Having lost 20lbs since May, I am being confronted with the challenge of a potential complete wardrobe rebuild. Moleskin, of many colors, will certainly be on the list.

Cheers,

Well, if you can wear Nantucket Red with a white oxford shirt and a blazer, then why not a deep burgundy pair of chinos?
Indeed, there is no good reason. While not quite as versatile as Nantucket red let alone all variants of khaki, there is no good reason to assert that casual burgundy pants must be reserved to moleskin or cords even if the color is more associated with winter or autumn.
