I'm not a fan of burgundy blazers.
Burgundy blazer
I stumbled across a burgundy blazer today. I know BB has an unusual, though accepted bottle green one, but how would this community react to a burgundy one?

that looked pretty nice. I think it can work somewhere burgundy blazers isn't a uniform. . .

As long as you've got the cream flannel trousers, the correspondent shoes and the silk scarf to go with it, looks like something that could be pulled off.

Don't dismiss it out of hand
Blueboy1938 and Dashing1 are to be commended for helpful comments. I'd disregard snarky ones; it's all a matter of execution.
I don't have a burgundy blazer, but I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand, depending on the fabric. Very likely your interest is partly driven by a desire for an alternative to the navy blazer. Hence the interest in hunter or bottle-green blazers in other threads.
I have an older Palm Beach blazer in a sort of faded grape color. It's different enough to really come alive when paired with the right shirt and tie. Similarly, one of my four navy blazers is in a linen finish that takes it out of mainstream.
One caution: you wouldn't wear a burgundy blazer as often as you could a navy one, since the latter is essentially neutral, much like a blue suit. :icon_smile_wink:

One has at least two burgundy blazers, and they receive compliments rather than derision. The thing about clothes is that when you see something, the many ways it will compliment the rest of your wardrobe and life should present themselves to your mind's eye. That would go perfectly with these ties. Wouldn't that be great with those trousers? And so forth. When this stage is reached, you will know that yes one needs one of those or no not in anyway useful.

I have longed for a burgundy blazer for some time. However, my collection of sport coats is still deficient in tweeds and I suspect that a olive blazer will hang in my closet before a burgundy one. However, though art be long and life be short, life is long enough to do great things . . . like eventually acquiring a burgundy blazer!
I have a great burgundy flannel blazer, it works really well with blackwatch plaid pants.

Concur with what others have said: If I saw someone in a burgundy blazer I'd assume they were a member of a darts or bowls team.
Have worn onemyself, but that was 30 years ago. It was velvet with matching bow tie, and grey flannels for a wedding. I was about 12 at the time so it's not as if I had any choice.

I have seen several hopsack blazers in burgundy and other unusual colors, and I associate them with the old gray haired guys at the local country club trying to act like bigshots. Looks nice but coloring of clothes and complexions is sometimes misleading online. If you look good in it, then thumbs up.
Would you wear something like this to a casual business setting or on a date? I was thinking to match it with VT tie or an orange pocket square.
