I received an email today that surprised me. They have Made in the USA OCBDs with neck and sleeve sizes. I wonder where they are making them? I bought several of these during The Purge and have been very happy...and these have pockets! But they are priced at $198 (I think we all though the $140 price on the prior versions was too high), so I'll probably need a 60-70% off sale to get another. But I am glad to have the option!

Have not heard anything about that but they used to be made east of Raleigh. I bought some of the last ones made there several years ago. I also just noticed that the Asheville BB store closed during the pandemic.

Those were made in Garland, but I believe that factory was sold. From what I can tell online, this is new stock (they actually have inventory in different sizes - when they were just selling off the old Garland stuff it was very limited), and the reviews on the website suggest the shirts are different with fused collars and shorter tails.

At those prices, choosing Mercer makes more sense to me. I have no interest in supporting a company that has, in very large measure, forsaken its base and moved away from being a USA maker. Remember when the labels on their jackets (at the back of the neck rather than the wallet pocket) said "Brooks Brothers Makers?"

They are being made at the same factory, which was purchased from Brooks Brothers. They are now called Garland Apparel Group, and are also making coats and slacks; as well as offering MTM garments.

They are supposedly made off from vintage BB patterns, but they don't seem that way to me. I have only looked at them in the store, but do seem 2 inches shorter which, in conjunction with the lower rise on their pants, tends to make the shirt pull out of the pant. At $200 there are much better USA made shirts available, as others have mentioned.

Yep, those low rise patterns for trousers put me off several years ago. Have no BB trousers since then.

Yes- I received the same email message. I wonder if the pattern is the same pattern that was used for the M Bastian OCBD shirts released in fall 2021. Shirt bodies in this line are shorter than standard, and arm holes are cut differently than pre closure BB. But at $199 ea ? Mercer and Proper Cloth become great alternatives in comparison.

The most interesting shirts to me were those made in imported broadcloth, high thread count. I bought Black Fleece, some Golden Fleece, button downs. The only button downs are Oxford Cloth. The only potentially interesting non-Oxford are English collars. For the old ... I bought end-on-end Sea Island Cotton at Ascot Chang in HK in 1969 for $7  Those were the days, somewhat.

Anyone know? :(
I’m not absolutely certain that the shirt is authentic. However, based on the photograph you posted, I don’t see anything that gives me a reason to believe it’s fake.

As you mentioned, Brooks Brothers DRESS shirts come in exact neck and sleeve sizes: 15/33, 15.5/34, 16.5/35, and so on.

However, their SPORT shirts are “alpha” sized: Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large, Tent. (Maybe I was kidding about the Tent.)

Go back to the Brooks Brothers website. You’ll have the option of clicking on “Dress Shirts” or “Sport Shirts.” Click on “Sport Shirts” and you’ll see a bunch of alpha-sized shirts.

The shirt you’re currently asking about is probably a genuine Brooks Brothers SPORT shirt made of non-iron oxford cloth.

I veered away from Brooks a while ago. their reboot of traditional cotton oxfords that need to be ironed wasn't close to the quality of good made-to-measure options that are roughly the same price - no pockets, thinner/less robust fabric, and even in the most generous cut, not as full as they used to be. Happened to their suits, too; I would never buy a suit there again. when Brooks went bad, I went with Oxxford - a lot more expensive, but a much, much nicer suit or sport jacket that will probably outlast multiples of what Brooks Brothers is putting out there these days.

I go to Mercer & Sons or Proper Cloth now - Mercer does a better job, both style and fabric, but their price and ordering 'system,' if you can call it that, aren't so appealing. Proper Cloth shirts are well made, the fabrics are very good overall (quality meaning they wear well and last a long time), and they're priced more competitively and much easier in terms of the online experience. once you get the measurements right. their collar points are a little short for my taste. I miss Michael Spencer - excellent shirts, didn't survive the founder's passing.
