Braces/Suspenders - Colors, Source Etc ?

Dear All

I hope you have been well since the last I was here.

I'm attending a medical conference in SF soon, and have been going through my clothing. I'm thinking a pair of suspenders might be worth a try, since I find my trousers tend to want to ride down a bit, probably a consequence of being too fat.

I will probably take my light grey and my "new blue" (a smidge lighter than Navy) suits. I don't want to be super ostentatious with ducks or other crazy stuff on the braces. Is there a preferred color? Do they need to coordinate with whatever color shirt I happen to be wearing?

Do we have some favorite sources here for reasonably priced, good quality suspenders?

Thanks everyone !

If you're going to wear white solid shirts, I would go with all white suspenders as it is very conservative and very easy to match everything. Just make sure they're button down.

Aren't white suspenders for formal or semi-formal wear? I.e., white tie or black tie?

I have a nice pair of beige/tan suspenders made by Tommy Hilfiger. I only have one pair of suit pants with buttons added and they are now too big on me to even be altered. So I'll be adding them to a current suit. I love them. I really like the beige color. Its neutral and looked great with any tie I wore them with.
I could go nuts with suspenders the way I did with ties. I need to be careful.

No, no, no! This type of advice is not helping to promote a better-dressed membership. White braces are for formalwear, period. With business suits, they are not conservative, they are just wrong.

I'll keep that in mind.

We make our suspenders in NYC. Grosgrain suspenders in 20 solid colors and 3 stripes - $45.50 + $7.75 shipping for up to 3 pair. Your choice of brown or black leather kips and gold or silver adjusters. We have a few in stock- most are made when we receive an order. View attachment 24884

Nice suspenders, Mr. Winston (or can I call you Paul?).

Are your grosgrain suspenders 100% cotton or 100% silk? And, do the navy solid suspenders come with dark brown or medium brown leather kips when brown leather is specified? Or, do you get a choice of those two browns when brown leather kips are specified?

My guess would be rayon.

Mr Winston can correct me if I misremembered, but when I asked that question the answer was I could specify the color I wanted when I ordered and they would let me know if they were unable to fulfill. I asked for mid brown when I ordered and they arrived with perfect mid brown colored kips.
