I find that I prefer Jack over Bills even though I have been a big fan of Bills M1's for years. With similar construction and weight I found the main difference is that Jack's zipper length is commensurate with the rise while Bills is not and always looked a little short in the M1 cut, something which always bothered me.

Thank you for your interesting analysis. I have more pairs of Bill's than I can count and I have been satisfied with their cut and performance.

I have a few pairs of Orvis Ultimate Khakis and although the fit is not precisely what I want the price, (When you buy two pairs) is acceptable.

I just looked up Jack Donnelly's Khakis and they do seem to have the features that Traditional Men's Khakis need. (I would like to see them come in a little less expensive though.)

I may try a pair.

I wear a pair of each - both the M1/relaxed. I haven't notice anything in particular about the zippers. I'm very happy with both brands. Bills feel slightly more confined around the waist and seat, which I could have addressed with a tailor, but cotton khaki twill is pretty forgiving, no need.

Anyone here have firsthand experience with the color of Jack's green? On their website it looks very dark. I just want a plain old olive green.
I have a pair of olive from JD that I would guess is about 5 or 6 years old. I'd consider them to be a fairly traditional olive color, not too dark. Obviously the cloth could be different now.

I find that I don't wear olive chinos very often, they're my only pair. Not sure why. Olive cords and moleskins are another story... In season they are in regular rotation.

If I recall correctly, JD's return policy includes free return shipping so there's really no risk. (Please confirm that yourself).

FYI, JD does have free returns. I just tried the M2 and M3 cuts and no issue on the returns. Just go to the website, click a few buttons and print out a USPS shipping label.

I have their khaki and British khaki colors in M2. I really like the fit. Material is nice IMO. The only difference in M2 and M3 pairs I had was the front rise on the M3 is about 1/2” higher. I am not at home and if I recall on 36 waist, M2 is roughly 12.5”-12.75” while M3 is 13”-13.25”. I wrote it down, so message me if anyone wants the info.
