Curious to find out if anyone has any recommendations, from your own personal experience, of a good and long lasting underarm deodorant (only deodorant).

For clarity, I am not looking for an antiperspirant or a combination deodorant + antiperspirant product.

I am in search of a non-antiperspirant underarm deodorant, that has a pleasant (subjective) & masculine smell that I can use daily.

For underarm sweat protection, I have been using 7-day antiperspirant towelettes, that you apply at night. As such, I don't need to apply additional antiperspirant daily.

Currently, my spray-on deodorant of choice is Clubman Supreme Deodorant, Non-Aerosol Spray. Also known as Clubman Non-Aerosol Deodorant Spray.

One nice characteristic of this non-aerosol deodorant, is that it sprays on very clean, and dries very fast. You can also use it as a body spray as well, and the scent is reminiscent of a visit to a barbershop, which I quite like.

I really like the Clubman Deodorant Spray scent, but it does not last quite as long as I would like it to.

Any alternative product suggestions?

I use a salt-based deodorant that does not serve as an antiperspirant due to the fact that my firm belief is that sweating is healthy and the cons heavily outweigh the pros when it comes to antiperspirants. The salt crystal has no smell at all, and I find this to be a plus when it comes to wearing cologne/aftershave.

@Clintotron - thanks for the reply.

The 7-day antiperspirant I use also does not have any scent. You put it on at night & let it take effect overnight. So, it won't interfere with any other scents one may wear/apply.

While I do sometimes wear cologne/aftershave, I don't wear it everyday, and I don't generally apply it to my underarms.

What brand of salt-based deodorant do you currently use?

Also, do you find it fully eliminates odor?

I've read mixed reviews of natural deodorants (like Toms), but have not explored salt-based deodorants such as Crystal or Salt of the Earth.

I am afraid that the Lord saw fit to bless me with a limited ability to perspire. A pleasant variation of the ITPR2 gene being but a minor element of my overwhelmingly superior genetic profile. Speaking, therefore, as an observer but isn't the odour a result of sweat and bacteria?

At any rate I would avoid excess exposure to aluminium.

Unfortunately I cannot offer a more experienced insight.

@Shaver there is no doubt you are a very rare breed ;)

Correct. Bateria is the main cause behind odor/odour, not the sweat itself.

Since the salt-based deodorants are designed to prevent bacteria (thus no odor), I may try a combination of a salt-based deodorant and Clubman -- and see how that combination works.

Thank you Mike.

This query posed without any motive but curiosity - how long might one expect from shower to odour?

It was over 30° in Manchester today and I was comfortable.

For me, under [my] normal circumstances, about 20-24 hours. Sometimes less. Even then, it's very subtle.

I'm just curious if there is a deodorant product, or combination, that would leave me feeling fresher/cleaner even longer.

Since I shower every morning, and repeat my regular hygiene routine, it really isn't a significant issue at all.

This is more of an optimization exercise, than anything else.

I figured this is one of the best places on planet earth to ask this question, so why not explore possible solutions right here :)

I'll check the brand when I return home. It's available at Walgreen's every time I've looked. It completely eliminates odors as long as I'm 100% consistent with daily shower/use. It's recommended that one wet the crystal before using, but I find dry use on shower-wet underarms yields the exact same results.

I use Degree and have for years. I am very allergic to antiperspirants. Degree has many scents and I don’t have a particular favorite.

In the am I shower, put on an application, put on an undershirt and I am good to go till bed. And I live in the blazing tropics most of the year.

Cheers,

BSR

Based on frequency of use, Old Spice Antiperspirant & Deodorant Sticks have been my go-to option most of the time. However, over the years I have experimented with other Brands, including two crystaline/salt products the proved very unsatisfactory in my use. :icon_scratch:

Please excuse the image quality. My new phone doesn't fit my older case well without some customization.

I've received an OVERABUNDANCE of useful information on this forum, it's a pleasure to offer a portion in return.

This particular brand produces at least two application methods-the dry crystal that requires wetting, and a roll-on sphere atop a container of what I assume is water and is similar in concept to a roll-on glue.
