I live in a part of New England where local wool yarn can be purchased. My partner and I have this idea to have sweaters made from local yarn.

I googled bespoke sweaters and don't know where to start. Recommendations? I'd say our budget is up to $500 per sweater.

I'd contact some of the shops that specialize in selling wool, especially locally produced wool, to see if they know of people, probably women, who might be interested in knitting sweaters to order. I tried to get some sweaters darned and had trouble; but if you're talking about $500 you might generate some interest. I know that the wool that Bills Khakis used in their New England Shetland Sweaters was from NH but shipped to CA for production.

I have not heard of anyone in the U.S. who does this with your yarn. Some high level makers may do made to measure in Europe but I doubt they would let you supply the yarn. You might want to take a look on Etsy as they have more handmade stuff like this. Would be best if you could go local though for fittings. Maybe ask at your local Joann fabrics or similar fabric store. Maybe ask good tailors in and around your area if they know anyone.
Thirty years ago you could probably find plenty of knitters but now...
